I love this bug block! My son has asthma and also has extreme reactions to mosquito bites, so much so that after an afternoon outside (with repellent on!) his face was so bitten up he looked like he's been in a boxing match! I hated spraying all those nasty chemicals on him, but I didn't know what else to do until I found this stuff. It works great! No harsh chemicals to breath in and it even smells good! I recommend it to everyone!
Such a great smell and works great too. I don't have to worry about the nasty sprays and breathing them in especially with my son's asthma and no disgusting aftertaste. I will def. be ordering again when we need it.
I considered 1-star for the Bug Block lotion stick because, for me, it didn't repel mosquitoes as I had hoped & I wanted to offer a 'your-mileage may vary' stance for balanced reviewing.
But such a low rating is unwarranted because it is still a good-quality lotion stick that I plan to continue using...just not against bugs.
I suspect that it isn't so much the fault of the product as it's almost impossible to keep bugs away from me. You see, mosquitoes are attracted to sweat, & I sweat a lot...as in, I think I could qualify for a hyperhydrosis diagnosis. It's just a whole lot worse in the summer.
I never understood why some people apply lotion in the morning or during the day because, in my experience, my skin ends up slippery, wet, & gross from the combination of lotion & sweat. I sweat more when I wear lotion or skin products, which is why I only apply in the evening when I'm moving less & thus less prone to sweating. I first noticed this with sunscreen & then other products like facial moisturizer.
So I gave Bug Block a try last 4th of July sitting outside watching the town's fireworks from my backyard. I applied it lightly; other reviewers said that a little went a long way. The bites began & I started applying more until I was at the point where I was probably coated in the stuff & had worked up an icky sweat, still getting bitten. I gave up & went inside to watch through a window. I wound up taking another shower to wash off the sweat & lotion & put on dry clothes. :(
It didn't block bugs for me, but I think that's a personal thing. Your mileage may vary. It does smell lovely (if you like citronella & citrusy scents as I do) & it's a good-quality lotion stick that I plan to use on my hands & such...just without the intention to repel mosquitoes. 3 stars because, for me, it didn't work as per its purpose, but it's still a high-quality lotion stick.
Finally!!! Bug repellent that works with out the harsh chemicals in it. We started using this last summer and loved the pleasant smell that kept the bugs away while not irritating sensitive skin.
We have only used this a handful of times. We have the bars and the stick. It seems to work really well on some of my daughters, but not so much on one of them. She gets a several bites with this on, but gets eaten alive without it. I definitely like the way it smells, and I feel so much better using this than a commercial spray product.
