One of my customers, Allie, has been asking me for the past two years to make a foot rub lotion bar.
If your feet get like my feet, extremely cracked and painful, you'll want to do what I do to make them smooth again. You just can't have them looking like this (see photo... sorry for the grossness of it!)
Back to Allie's suggestions:
"Peppermint definitely. Tea tree sounds good too! I love a tingling sensation on my feet as long as it's all natural. It really aids the relaxing effect during a foot massage."
Allie, we've tested the oils, and now your foot rub is ready.
We're naming it Foot Rub (foot balm stick).
INGREDIENTS: beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, essential oils of tea tree, peppermint and black pepper.
How we chose the ingredients:
The Beesilk base was a no-brainer. It's worked perfectly well on my hands, body, and feet to eliminate the deep cracks and splits. It just needed a bit of a kick to it. It would be even better if we could add essential oils with antioxidant and antifungal properties. And so, we added essential oils of tea tree, peppermint and a bit of black pepper essential oil. Adding the black pepper takes off the sharp edge of the peppermint and gives it a nice, round, full, complex scent.
Black pepper essential oil on the skin, you ask? According to Robert Tisserand, "because of the pungency of fresh pepper, it is often incorrectly assumed that the oil must be a strong skin irritant. It is not unusual for a substance to have both antioxidant and pro-oxidant properties."
