Notes on the Talk
- Carolyn gives us a peek at her complete SYSTEM to teach us how to look at a health problem, choose the herb to use, and how to use the herb.
- Most herbal trainings on the market are a list of things to memorize.
- But when you create a system, you can create an effective remedy system for your own family.
- Her process started when she began having babies. Her friends were starting to deal with auto-immune issues at such a young age, and she didn't want that for herself, but especially for her children.
- She KNEW that herbs worked, but they didn't always work when she felt they should.
- She realized that it wasn't that the herb didn't work, it wasn't working for HER. She didn't have a system down that made the herb work (that would be easy to adopt).
- The system had to be dummy-proof.
Here's what happens with most people:
1. The Last Minute Dabbler waits until there's an illness and then tries to find a quick remedy
2. The Forgetful Dabbler can't remember what she used last time - she forgot to make notes
3. The Too Little Too Late Dabbler has everything ready to go but didn't label what she has and can't remember what it's for or forgets to continue taking it
- Herbs must be taken regularly to work correctly
- You need a systematic approach to working with herbs
- You must think like a family herbalist
- Due to different family demographics, different health issues, different situations... all can affect how you create your family herbal system
- Carolyn describes what she did for stomach flus in her household (and how they haven't had the flu in a long time)
- Carolyn answers questions related to allergies and herbs
- Her biggest recommendations for allergies: nettles and alfalfa
- It's almost impossible to overdose, and should be taken before allergy season hits
- Eat fermented foods
- Roasted Dandelion Tea is the answer to so many issues (especially for your liver) and helps with skin issues, including eczema
- Most herbal books are great resources... what you need to do is create your system to use the books
