DOES YOUR SKIN LOOK LIKE THIS?


They're not painful, but those scales can certainly be annoying... the tiny dry skin patches that can leave flakes on your clothes and even worse, attract the "skin peeling" habit to personally remove each fleck.


I'll let you know which product(s) I use when my skin becomes flaky and scaly but first, let's look at some of the causes.


Reasons for Dry, Scaly, Rough Skin

(Taken primarily from Dr. Berg's Blog and YouTube Channel)

  1. Insufficient essential fatty acids: these are needed to keep the skin hydrated. Brittle hair is another symptom.

  2. Your skin's pH balance is high (too alkaline)

  3. Your skin's microbes (germs) that are bad can make your skin environment stressful

  4. Chronic Inflammation: Inflammation is a common underlying factor in many chronic skin conditions. Identifying and addressing the root causes of inflammation, such as food sensitivities, environmental toxins, and stress, can significantly improve skin health.

  5. Hormonal Imbalances: Hormones play a crucial role in skin health. Imbalances in hormones like thyroid, estrogen, and cortisol can disrupt the skin's natural oil production and barrier function.

  6. Dehydration and Environmental Factors: Inadequate water intake and exposure to harsh environmental conditions can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and scaling.


Solutions to Fix It

Fix from the inside  (and out)

  1. Avoid sugar, carbohydrates, seed oils (especially soy)

  2. Include more fat soluble vitamins into your diet

  3. Consume more flaxseed (include oils) and chia seed

  4. Consume more foods rich in Omega-3

  5. Avoid petroleum-based products and lotions

  6. Be aware of skin care product ingredients that can strip the skin of its natural oils

  7. Use a humidifer in dry rooms, and consume plenty of water


SKIN CARE PRACTICES & PRODUCTS FOR DRY, SCALY SKIN

DO THIS: First, be aware of using hot water in the shower, which can strip the skin of its natural oils.  Make sure that your skin care and soap does not contain detergents or ingredients that mess with the skin's pH balance.


USE THIS: I personally rely on Beesilk Jr when my skin is scaly but not rough, or the Beesilk Lotion Bar when it feels rough along with scaly.

    Best lotion for dry hands!

    Currency dry cuticles!

    I am so impressed with how well my cuticles have healed. My hands are dry but not excessively so, however I’ve always been troubled with ragged cuticles. My decided to give your product a try.     Love this product!! I have been on a mission to find something that isn't greasy and stays. I have found it, this lotion bar doesn't have a fragrance, settles into my skin quickly without a slippery after effect and lasts thru hand washes for hours. I will be ordering more!

    Relief!

    The lotion bar has stopped the dryness aroubd my ankles & heels. The heels of my feet used to itch unbearably, so I would use the pumice stone & lather them up. Nothing gave me daily relief..except the lotion bar. I use it over my entire body, including my face & my foundation glides in. My skin is sulky smoothI am so content & recommend Made On items to everyone!!

    Love the Junior Lavendar lotion and am never without it. I have a small tin for purse/travel and the large size in my bathroom. I keep it open on my counter so I never fail to swipe it when I walk into another part of the house. Does wonders for my cuticles, hands, elbows &. more.     Difficult to apply

    I ordered the Bee Silk Junior because the website says it’s easier to apply on delicate skin. I’m a mature woman who has sensitive not delicate skin. I found the contents of the tin too firm and it made application time-consuming and somewhat difficult. I purchased this item for travel thinking it would be convenient but the consistency of the product makes application tedious.

    So much easier to apply!

    I love your hard lotion bars but as I get older, I'm finding that softer things just go on easier! This winter was especially harsh so very glad for the softer Jr version with all the same lively ingredients - sooo soothing!
