These come as a 2-pack of 2 wooden soap decks (soap sold separately.)

Wooden soap dishes are a must-have for any handmade soap user! These soap savers will help your soap last much longer by allowing your handmade soaps to dry between uses.

Made with aromatic cedar, these are created to hold the soap on its long side to keep the least amount of contact of soap to deck (otherwise, when it dries, it can stick to the deck and be difficult to remove). Also, this means the soap deck doesn't take over valuable counter space.

Here's what the soap deck maker says about his handcrafted soap decks:

The soap trays are about 4" long by 2.5" wide and approximately 3/4" thick The picture in this listing is a sampling of the product shipped. There could be some with lighter wood color than shown which is natural for Eastern Red Cedar (aromatic cedar).

The soap trays are not coated with any finish, they are all natural and you can smell the cedar very quickly. They are very rot resistant naturally and work well in the shower for keeping your soap from melting away. These are made from wood that has knots, so a few will have tight knots that won't fall out. There also can be a very few with bark edge in a spot on the bottom.

Water drains from the slots cut into the wood allowing a soap bar to dry quickly.

The wood might darken in time as the oils of the soap penetrate the wood.

MEET THE MAKER: Phillip Cooper

I've been a woodworking hobbyist for over 20 years. My goal is to make high quality crafts that anyone would be pleased to own. I like to use many different kinds of wood and other materials for useful things, neat things that can make a difference to someone. I hope to make things that will last many years, heirloom quality items that can be passed on from one generation to another.

Someone asked what I mean when I say 'Handcrafted'. To me that means it was created by a person, not a mindless machine in China. My woodworking includes machines, I use basic power equipment such as saws and routers, as well as hand tools to create the items I sell. Mass produced items do not have a personal touch like handcrafted items do. Therefore each piece that is handcrafted by me will likely have small and very minor mistakes here and there, but most artisans call that 'character' which shows the maker's handiwork.

Helpful but could be better

Like the idea that the soap stays dry, but it adheres to the wooden stand creating an obstacle to picking up the soap alone. Perhaps pre oiling the wood prior to use would help.

Keeps my soap dry!

I like having a bar of soap that's not slimy or melting away in the dish! The wooden soap pallette is great for keeping my soap whole and dry. Great addition to my counter.

Keep soap dry

I love that I don't have a goopy mess because the pallet keeps the soap lifted and it has a chance to dry. Very nice looking, blends in well.

stain

Sorry to say that the pallet has stained the area it was sitting on.

Soap Saver!

I now have two sets of these - I use them in the shower and next to the sink. They keep the soap totally dry between using it so the soap lasts so much longer. I do keep the soap on its side for as long as I can (until the bar becomes too small to do so), which really helps. Even after the bar is too small to keep on its side, the pallet still keeps the soap dry. These are a must for preserving your soap!

Too Tough

Cannot get the soap off of this to travel. Soap stays attached like glue and have to use a lot of water to it to unstick. In the process you waste your soap.
